Artist Statement
I believe that emotion is the soul of the photograph. My goal in photography is to show emotions that can be understood by all humanity. To extract emotion out of a street light or a tree branch is a process that I truly love. A simple explanation of why I take photographs is to celebrate humanity.
Most of my photographs are taken with a medium format black and white film. For the night scenes the film is specially processed to retain the gradation in the shadow areas. I like to Print in both traditional silver gelatin on fiber paper and digital pigment ink on acid free paper.
